Living for Sport

On 14th May we had a visit from our athlete mentor from the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme. Charlotte came to tell her story to our KS3 pupils during assembly and then worked with two smaller groups of children.

We have been awarded with ARTS MARK!

Shavington High School are delighted to have been awarded ARTS MARK for our work in Drama, Music, Art and Creative Writing across the school.

New Garden Area

Pupils have designed a new garden area and will be planting up their designs during June and July.

If you can donate any plants, bulbs, seedlings, benches etc they will be gratefully received.

Election of Parent Governor

The Instrument of Government for Shavington High School allows for the election of six Parent Governors, to be elected by parents of registered pupils at the School and who must themselves be parents of such a pupil.

There is currently a vacancy for a Parent Governor and we therefore invite the nomination of candidates for the office of Parent Governor.

Summer Half Term Holiday dates

Monday 4th June - Friday 8th June 2012

Year 11 Study Leave

Year 11 pupils will commence their Study Leave at 11.50am on Friday 1st June, our last day of term. They are free to come in non-uniform and bring along a shirt to be signed in their bag. Please note that no Year 11 pupils are to remain on site after 11.50am, as Study Leave will have officially begun for ALL Year 11 pupils at that time.

Thursday 31st May 2012 - Olympic Torch

The Olympic Torch is passing through Crewe on 31st May, with traffic problems expected to impact on journeys until 9.30am. Several pupils and parents have expressed an interest in watching the Olympic Torch go by. To enable this to happen pupils will not be marked in late until 10.15am.

Consent forms

Lots of members of staff are waiting for pupils to return consent forms for all of the trips running this term. Could parents please ensure that forms are completed and returned to school this week for Secondary College (All of Year 10) and the Reward Trips.

Congratulations Mr Colbridge!

A BIG congratulations to Mr Colbridge from all of the staff and students! Mr Colbridge has been a supply teacher at Shavington High School for nearly 18 months and we have just recruited him to teach ICT and Maths on a permanent basis from September.

Graphics Controlled Assessments

Well done to all of the pupils who achieved Head Teachers Awards this week for their Graphics Controlled Assessment.

Chimney House Meeting

14 head teachers attended a Chimney House Group breakfast meeting in our new school library this week.

e-Safety Assemblies


PC Mark Guildford, our School Liaison Officer, has been into school this week advising pupils about staying safe online. They learnt about the laws surrounding Internet misuse as well as strategies to keep themselves safe.

The GCE Results Day will be on 16th August 2012. 

The GCSE and Diploma Results Day will be on 23rd August 2012.

New Intake Evening

The New Intake Evening for Year 6 parents will take place on 28th June 2012.

New Intake Day

The New Intake Day for Year 6 pupils will take place on 20th June 2012.

Year 7 and 8 Examinations

Year 7 and 8 examinations start on 11th June 2012.

Year 11 Prom

The Year 11 Prom will be held at Crewe Alex on 1st June 2012.

Summer Examinations

Summer examinations start on 8th May 2012.
